Breastfeeding support contacts | breastfedbabies
If your partner is having problems with breastfeeding help is available. The midwives in hospital will be able to offer practical support. They will also visit and support your partner for the first few weeks at home. After this your health visitor will visit and will be able to provide information and reassurance about breastfeeding.
There are also voluntary breastfeeding counsellors who are very experienced in helping with breastfeeding problems.
National Breastfeeding Helpline 0300 100 0212 (9.30am-9.30pm)
Association of Breastfeeding Mothers 0844 412 2949 (open 9.30am-10.30pm)
La Leche League 0845 120 2918 (24 hours)
National Childbirth Trust 0300 330 0771 (8am-10pm)
Your partner may like to meet with other breastfeeding mums or health professionals to get more advice. For a list of breastfeeding groups that meet throughout Northern Ireland visit the section on support groups.
In many areas of Northern Ireland, new mums can talk to a breastfeeding peer supporter. These are women who have breastfed themselves and have completed training and would like to help other mums.
